MY SWEET DREAM

My phone rang
As the bird sang
So I picked my phone
While the bird continued its' own
As I dropped my call
The bird brought the song to a fall
'Go on, you are the best'
But it headed towards its' nest

If only I could fly
I would journey with it through the sky
To its' destination
There I would score the notation
For its' song
Was the best I had listened to for long
Even Handel with his beautiful composition
Won't out shine this rendition

So I returned home dejected
What a call I should had rejected

But little did I know that the bird
Found a bed
In the cage
In front of my garage

So I took it in
That I might listen
To its' load of music
Even though, of them, I can't pick a lyric

Then I heard a voice from distance
'Lets thank God for given us another chance
To be among the living
This morning'

There and then I knew it was a dream
How I wish it could play back like a film?

IF HEAVEN WILL FALL

If heaven will fall
It will on all

If you neighbour eats rotten food
And you kept quiet like the wood
When the consequence comes hot
Immunity shall save you not

So speak up against evil
Or we'll bear the ill as single
Voice out against wrong
Or we'll face the music together before long

Remember Jesse, Delta state
Where 1200 souls were burnt
Or Ebute and Abule Egba in Lagos state
Same thing in other states

They all had sad story
Because they gave silence victory
And on the day of reckoning
Nature's hand of saving
Could not avert the consequence
Caused by their silence
For if heaven will fall
It will on all

JUSTICE

Justice! Justice!! Justice!!!
This is the cry of the masses
Who had being deprived of their right
By they who pledge to be just and do right

Justice! Justice!! Justice!!!
This is the demand of the populace
From a constitution
That had being given a restriction

Justice! Justice!! Justice!!!
This we demand from our leader in fleece
Who promised to lead us out of the dark
And put us back on track
But is doing the opposite
Of what he promised to do on seat

Justice! Justice!! Justice!!!
Of you we long to catch a glimpse
If that's the only enjoyment
We'll derive from this government

LETTER TO MY BELOVED

Dear beloved
I'm sorry to inform you that I had resolved
And arrived at the conclusion
To stop our distant communication
And put an end to our beautiful relationship
And glowing friendship

For I'm becoming insane
And can no longer bear the pain
Of traveling to your place
Before I see your face

Furthermore I'm tired of writing
And endlessly waiting
For days
Before hearing from you always
For whenever I pick my handset
To call your gadget
It's either switched off
Since power in you area is always off
Or out of service
The usual from our telecommunication companies

So I decide to do this
That we might have peace

Finally I'm coming to see your mother
And ask your father
For your hand in marriage
Because our love has come of age
And I can't give you away
Whatever the pay
Thereby saying goodbye to a relationship
And welcoming companionship

But before I end this letter
I have a question that needs an urgent answer
Baby
Will you marry me?

Your truly
And faithfully

OBIANUJU

Obianuju
For you
I sing
This song
Block not your heart
Turn your back not

Obianuju
It's you
I want
My God sent
Take not your love away
Your heart I won't make a thing of play

Obianuju
In you
I see
My future she
Be my spouse
And together we shall build a house

Obianuju
With you
I'll be
The true me
For you are my heart desire
The one I truly admire

Obianuju
I beg you
Be my love
And I'll you what you truly deserve

THE TICKET TO YOUR HEART

Give me the ticket
To take a trip to your heart
There I might make a home
Whatever the storm

Give me the chance
To become your fiance
The man of your choice
And you'll never be at loss
Neither will you regret
Ever opening to me your heart

Let me take you before the bishops and priests
And before your parents
With the congregation as witness
To profess that I'll love you in health and in sickness
When things glow
And in sorrow
Till death
Ends our journey on earth

It is you I had chosen
To be the mother of my unborn children
My wife
And better half in this life

MONEY OVER LOVE

You said 'I can't do without you'
She replied 'Then you were well to do'

You called me the love of your life
'Because you had the money to care for a wife'

What happens to the name Honey
'It's dead for there is no money'

So you don't love me again
'Staying with you now is living in pain'

Are you going away?
'Yes to him who can afford the pay'

Oh! it's true that love glows
'Only when money flows'

ELECTION YEAR'S AGONY

Every election year
They promise to lead with God's fear
But once they are in office
They forget that promise

The once friend of the people
Sworn into office with the Quran or the Bible
Makes the people cry
With policies that make them dry

Policies coated with national interest
But formed by selfish men at the crest
Without consultation with the populace
People at the receiving end of the policies

Yet after four years of disappointment
They come back begging for our endorsement

And because we are fast at forgetting the past
They give us items that won't last
And we surrender without measure
Our future and pleasure

Some even fight their brothers
For the candidate who never bothers
But enjoy chilled beer
And 'isi-ewu' at bars
With other aspirants
And political opponents
Every Friday night
When they are out of sight
As our wounded receives treatment at the hospital
And the dead prepared for burial

O God, help my people maintain their stand
Whenever they come around

THERE IS A LAND

There is a land
Where men forget that they were made from sand

A land where lads and lasses
Are the sources
Of their parents' riches

Where children are their parents' murderers
That they may become societal movers and shakers
Men of timber
And calibre

Where brothers kill sisters
And sisters kill brothers
Because of inheritances
Or for sacrifices

A land where the fear of every family member
Is a secret of living longer

Where the love of parent
Is for selfish interest

Where hatred flows freely
Among members of the same family

There is a land
Where evil had made its' stand

Welcome to that land

GOD DELAYS

God delays
But never denies.

He says wait,
Not because of hate
But because his ways
Are not your ways.

His design of the promised destination
Is better than your vision and intention.

If you walk his path
With faith filled heart
And believe him,
He'll fulfill your dream.

..You’ll get it, yes you can
If it’s in line with his plan

With Perseverance as first name
And Patience the other name
The one that is hopeful and prayerful
Will get answers in full.

I tell you, His word
Never returns to Him void
